Corazon L. Abansi

Cora is Associate Professor and Director of the Institute of Management, College of Social Sciences, UP Baguio.  She holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of the Philippines at Los Banos. Likewise, she has two master’s degrees - MS Agricultural Economics from UPLB and MA Economics from UP Diliman.  Her undergraduate program is also in Economics from UPLB.

Dr. Abansi has worked with the Department of Agriculture for almost 10 years. She has also served as Research Associate of the International Rice Research Institute in the late 80’s and as Project Officer of the UNDP-IMO Program for the Prevention of Marine Pollution in East Asian Seas in the early 90’s. Prior to joining UP Baguio, she was connected with De La Salle Lipa for eleven years where she served as Dean of the Graduate School and later as Vice-Chancellor for Academics. She availed of early retirement from De La Salle Lipa and joined UP Baguio in June 2010.

Dr. Abansi’s research and advocacy interests are in the protection of the environment and the improvement of the quality of education. She is a member of the International Network of ICM Practitioners, a group working for the preservation of the environment and the prevention of marine pollution in the seas of East Asia. She collaborates actively with the Synergeia Foundation, a national network of advocates for reform in public basic education.  She is also a member of the Comparative International Education Society, the International Reading Association and the Phi Lambda Theta Honor Society.
  

Santos Jose O. Dacanay, III

"Third" is Professor and holds a PhD in business administration, major in business policy, from the University of the Philippines in Diliman where he also earned his bachelor's degree in business administration and diploma in urban and regional planning. He has an MBA from Saint Louis College. He was a junior research fellow on banking and finance at the University of Limoges in France from June to September 2006. Third is UP Baguio's Gawad Chancellor for Most Outstanding Junior Faculty for 2007. He teaches managerial economics, financial management and strategic management. His research interest and consulting engagements include family planning and reproductive health; management of public and non-profit organizations; and, commercial banks. Prior to joining the Institute, he worked as project development officer for a presidential commission tasked with coordinating the development of Northern Luzon. His papers on Philippine commercial banking structure, performance and efficiency are published in the Philippine Management Review (2004 and 2007), The Business Review, Cambridge (2007), and Philippine Review of Economics (2010). He is also a co-author of a paper on social marketing a natural family planning method which appeared in the Philippine Population Review (2009). He is likewise a contributor in the Essentials of Investments in the Philippine Capital Market (2004). He holds the Dr. Felix V. Llamido Professorial Chair.

 


  


Teofino C. Macabiog


"Teo" is Associate Professor and finished his Master of Management major in Public Management from U.P. in 1983 and has earned units in the doctor of public administration program at the U.P. National College of Public Administration and Governance (NCPAG). His paper "Social Development and Overseas Employment Policy" appeared in the Philippine Review of Public Administration (2000) and was included in the Introduction to Philippine Public Administration: A Reader (2003) published by the U.P. NCPAG. His involvement in the university's governance includes being the Director of Student Affairs, memberships in the Bids and Awards Committee and the Administrative and Student Disciplinary Tribunal. Teo is also a Development Academy of the Philippines-accredited trainer for R.A. 9184 (Government Procurement Reform Act) for the Cordillera region. Teo has been awarded the Potenciano Illusorio Faculty Grant.


Bienvenido C. Marzan


"Benjie" is Associate Professor of Management and current Vice Chancellor of Administration of U.P. Baguio.He finished his Master of Management, Doctor of Business Administration and Diploma in Industrial Relations from U.P. in 1989, 1997 and 2001, respectively. Benjie teaches organizational behavior and human resource management. His researches include spirituality in the workplace, consumers' susceptibility of reference group influence, and human resource planning and development for U.P. faculty under the academic management development programme. He is also a Development Academy of the Philippines-accredited trainer for R.A. 9184 (Government Procurement Reform Act) for the Cordillera region. He holds the MMC Diamond Jubilee Professorial Chair.


Erlinda C. Palaganas


"Caster" is Professor of Management and has a Master in Public Health from U.P. and Ph.D. from the University of Sydney (Australia, 1996). She has sustained research publications in the field of health services and non-profit sector management, including Mainstreaming Indigenous Health Knowledge and Practices (2001), published by the U.P. Center for Integrative and Development Studies; Health Consequences of Gender-based Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices (2004), published by U.P. Baguio's Cordillera Studies Center; Health Practice in the Community (2003), published by Educational Publishing and Jade Publishing Co., among others. She regularly delivers papers in international and national conferences on health services, reproductive health and gender issues. She also served as Governor and Board Secretary of the Philippine Nurses Association, chair of the board of Health Action and Information Network, and officer of other cause-oriented organizations. She holds the U.P. Foundation Professorial Chair.

Jay Stephen C. Siy

“Jay” is Assistant Professor of Management and a Certified Public Accountant. He earned his Master of Management degree in UP Baguio (2006), the same year that he was invited to teach at the Institute. He handles managerial accounting, financial management, strategic management and operations management. As part of his academic pursuits, Jay developed instructional materials in accounting and a student module in Financial Management (2008). A recipient of the Mateo Tupas Faculty Grant, his paper, Compliance Regimes in Publicly-Listed Mining Firms: Mineral Resources and Financial Reporting Issues was published in the European Journal of Scientific Research, Volume 7 No.3 (2009) link: www.eurojournals.com/ejsr_27_3_07.pdf

Prior to UP, Jay lectured at ABE International College where he taught courses in accounting, auditing and business taxation. Outside the academe, he worked as finance analyst for Ginebra San Miguel (2001), internal auditor for the Bank of the Philippine Islands (2002) and does financial consulting for SMEs and corporations (2003 to present).

 
 


Carmen E. Ramos


Carmen is Senior Administrative Assistant of the Institute. She has becomean institution, with more than 28 years of service to the graduate management program. She received the Gawad Dekana para sa Pinakamahusay na Empleyadong Administratibo in 2002. Carmen was also awarded by the Institute's alumni during the Silver Jubilee celebrations on May 17, 2003 for her unwavering commitment and dedicated service to the University and its students.
