Tasks/Roles

1.  Spearhead initiatives in research and action programs for biodiversity conservation and advocacy

2.  Coordinate initiatives in biodiversity research and advocacy

3.  Initiate, support, or lead capability building activities,  training programs, and conferences in biodiversity 

Member Groups:

 

1.  Biodiversity Conservation Advocacy and Capability Building Program

a) Work for the adoption by regional development planning councils and bodies, especially those organized by the National Economic Development Authority, of  biodiversity conservation as a priority agenda in development planning.    

b) Work for the adoption by local governments of biodiversity conservation sites, programs, and ordinances.

c) Mobilize experts and professionals to build a network of scientific and technical expertise to support training, policy making, research, and advocacy in biodiversity conservation

d) Develop, popularize, and disseminate biodiversity conservation advocacy materials among the general public in order for them to appreciate biodiversity conservation science as well as support biodiversity conservation policy formulation, enrichment, and implementation.  

e) Support or launch capability-building activities for the adoption by local governments and groups of biodiversity conservation ordinances, measures, and programs.      Click here for details

2.    The Barlig Biodiversity Project

        The Barlig Biodiversity Project seeks to investigate the relationship of  biodiversity loss with the situation of households, community, and agricultural production in the project site.    Click here for details

3.    The Sto. Tomas Project

        The Sto. Tomas Biodiversity Project seeks to investigate the abundance and distribution of flora and fauna in selected sites of Sto. Tomas, Tuba, Benguet.  It would use biodiversity indices to assess the status of biodiversity in the locality.  Sto. Tomas is important because it is a watershed and a water source for Baguio City and Benguet. Further, the biological and physical stability of Sto. Tomas is crucial for the biophysical stability of Baguio City and Benguet Province.  Click here for details
