Dr. Corazon L. Abansi

"Cora" is Professor Management and currently the Director for the Office of Student Affairs, UP Baguio.  She holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of the Philippines at Los Banos. Likewise, she has two master’s degrees - MS Agricultural Economics from UPLB and MA Economics from UP Diliman.  Her undergraduate program is also in Economics from UPLB.  Dr. Abansi has worked with the Department of Agriculture for almost 10 years. She has also served as Research Associate of the International Rice Research Institute in the late 80’s and as Project Officer of the UNDP-IMO Program for the Prevention of Marine Pollution in East Asian Seas in the early 90’s. Prior to joining UP Baguio, she was connected with De La Salle Lipa for eleven years where she served as Dean of the Graduate School and later as Vice-Chancellor for Academics. Dr. Abansi’s research and advocacy interests are in the protection of the environment and the improvement of the quality of education. 


 Dr. Santos Jose O. Dacanay III

  “Third” is professor of management and holds a PhD in business administration, major in business policy, from the University of the Philippines in Diliman where he also earned his bachelor's degree in business administration and diploma in urban and regional planning. He has an MBA from Saint Louis College. He was a junior research fellow on banking and finance at the University of Limoges in France in 2006. His papers on Philippine commercial banking structure, performance and efficiency are published in the Philippine Management Review (2004, 2007 and 2011), The Business Review, Cambridge (2007), Philippine Review of Economics (2010), and International Journal of Business and Management Studies (2011). His papers on Cordillera fiscal autonomy and financial footprints of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples appeared in The Cordillera Review: Journal of Philippine Culture and Society (2010 and 2011). He is also a co-author of a paper on social marketing a natural family planning method which appeared in the Philippine Population Review (2009). He is a contributor to the Essentials of Investments and the Philippine Capital Market (2004 and 2011 editions). He first worked as a project development officer for a presidential commission, now defunct, tasked with the coordinating the development of Northern Luzon Growth Area from March 1996 to February 1999. He is a resource person for the governance training for electric cooperatives of the Development Academy of the Philippines and lectures on operations research and policy at the National Defense College of the Philippines. “Third” is the 2007 Gawad Chancellor for most outstanding junior faculty in UP Baguio and the 2011 Deloitte-FINEX Outstanding Finance Educator for Luzon. He holds the UP Baguio Research Endowment Fund Professorial Chair.



Dr. Bienvenido C. Marzan


 "Benjie" is Associate Professor of Management and currently the Director of the Institute of Management. He was the former Vice Chancellor of Administration of U.P. Baguio. He obtained  his Master of Management, Doctor of Business Administration and Diploma in Industrial Relations from U.P. in 1989, 1997 and 2001, respectively.  He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in BS Commerce from the Baguio Colleges Foundation (now University of the Cordilleras). Benjie teaches fundamentals of management, organizational behavior,  human resources management and strategic management. He is invited as a resource person in local, regional and international seminars and conferences on various topics in management, including values, leadership, team building, strategic planning, research and interpersonal relations. Benjie was employed with Philippine National Bank (PNB) for 13 years before he entered the academic field.  


Dr. Erlinda C. Palaganas 

"Caster" is Professor of Management and has a Master in Public Health from U.P. and Ph.D. from the University of Sydney (Australia, 1996).  She is the current Chair of the Graduate Program Office (GPO). As a prolific researcher, she has sustained research publications in the field of health services and non-profit sector management, including Mainstreaming Indigenous Health Knowledge and Practices (2001), published by the U.P. Center for Integrative and Development Studies; Health Consequences of Gender-based Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices (2004), published by U.P. Baguio's Cordillera Studies Center; Health Practice in the Community (2003), published by Educational Publishing and Jade Publishing Co., among others.  As such, she was given the Gawad Chancellor award for Research and Extension Service in 1997. She regularly delivers papers in international and national conferences on health services, reproductive health and gender issues.



Prof. Jay Stephen C. Siy

“Jay” is Assistant Professor and a Certified Public Accountant. He served as the Director of the Institute of Management from June 1, 2012 to May 31, 2014. He earned his Master of Management degree in UP Baguio in 2006, the same year that he was invited to teach at the Institute. He handles managerial accounting, financial management, strategic management and operations management. As part of his academic pursuits, Jay developed instructional materials in accounting and a student module in Financial Management (2008). A recipient of the Mateo Tupas and UP System Faculty Grants, his papers, Compliance Regimes in Publicly-Listed Mining Firms: Mineral Resources and Financial Reporting Issues and Disclosure Practices of Listed Philippine Mining Companies, 2006-2010 were published in the European Journal of Scientific Research, Volume 7 No. 3 (2009); and the Philippine Management Review, Volume 20 (2013), respectively.  Prior to UP, Jay lectured at ABE International College where he taught courses in accounting, auditing and business taxation. Outside the academe, he worked as finance analyst for Ginebra San Miguel (2001), internal auditor for the Bank of the Philippine Islands (2002) and does financial consulting for SMEs and corporations (2003 to present).



Prof. Dianne Acosta-Corpuz

Dianne” is an Assistant Professor, a Certified Public Accountant accredited in public practice, Licensed Real Estate Broker and Certified Securities Representative.  She earned her Bachelor Degrees in Accountancy and Commerce major in Financial Management as a university scholar of the Center for Culture and the Arts in Saint Louis University (both in 2006), and Masters in Business Administration in the University of the Cordilleras (2010) where she also served as a faculty to both in 2009 until 2014 before she joined the Institute of Management in January 2017, as Senior Lecturer.  As a skilled practitioner, Dianne caters to a wide variety of clientele, mostly MSMEs, for accounting, audit, taxation and business advisory. She also has speaking invitations in seminars, workshops, conferences and visiting lectures, locally and abroad, organized by professional groups, government agencies, cooperatives and not-for-profit organizations.  As an active officer of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Baguio-Benguet Chapter, Dianne functioned as the Director in Academe and Public Practice, and Chapter Secretary (2007 to present), helping execute the programs and activities of the organization for CPAs and the community.  Currently, she is writing her dissertation in completion of her Doctorate degree in Philosophy in Management at SLU, a jump-start to a future, bountiful, research career.
