UP Baguio Institute of Management bags The 9th PPM RBCC Championship

The UP Baguio Institute of Management won 1st place at the recently concluded The 9th PPM Regional Business Case Competition (RBCC) held at Jakarta, Indonesia last November 14-15, 2018. This year’s theme is Mandiri Sahabatku: Towards the Inclusion of Indonesian Migrant Workers. The competition is sponsored by Bank Mandiri, one of Indonesia’s largest banks.

The RBCC is an annual event participated by master’s degree students from various universities throughout Asia Pacific countries. Participants are challenged by real company case and are assessed based on their analytical, thinking skills, creativity, and innovation.

The team, Luntian at Pula, is composed of Master of Management students, Blessing Kith Dominno-Macabio, Joanna Rachelle M. Matadling, and John Primor P. Uy, led by their coaches Prof. Dianne Acosta-Corpuz, CPA, MBA and Dr. Bienvenido Marzan.

A total of 58 teams participated and submitted their case analyses on Mandiri Sahabatku, Bank Mandiri’s company’s social responsibility focusing on giving entrepreneurship seminars and assistance for Indonesian Migrant Workers. Out of 58 teams, only nine teams proceeded to the finals after careful paper review and assessment by judges coming from top universities. Luntian at Pula ranked 4th out of the nine teams who made it to the finals.

The finals held at Jakarata, Indonesia was a two-day event wherein the nine best teams presented their papers and debated amongst other teams in front of the juries and the audience. Juries selected the four best teams as Grand finalists to undergo another series of question and answer. Finally, the juries selected the winning team and Team Luntian at Pula of University of the Philippines Baguio emerged as champions. University of the Philippines Baguio scored 87.063 bagging 1st place, PPM School of Management from Indonesia is 2nd earning a score of 82.847, 3rd place went to Universiti Teknologi Mara from Malaysia with a score of 82.257, and Universitas Prasetya Mulya from Indonesia earned the 4th place with a score of 81.703.
